The new super reforms and a focus on continuous professional development is behind a surge in demand for high quality specialist SMSF education.
SuperConcepts has now scheduled two extra specialist courses in both Sydney and Melbourne to cope with the demand for its highly regarded 3-day SMSF specialist course.
“With all the legislative changes it’s no surprise that advisers are struggling to keep up and that we are seeing increased demand for specialist SMSF training,” said Peter Burgess, SuperConcepts General Manager Technical Services and Education.
“And with all the recent discussion and debate about the new education standards for advice providers it’s pleasing to see advisers have not turned their back on education and the importance of specialist SMSF advice training.
“Providing competent SMSF advice requires specialist knowledge; it requires a good understanding of many sections of the tax and super legislation that rarely need to be addressed when providing advice to clients in public offer funds. The in-house asset rules, related party definition, residency and the ability to apply the sole purpose test are all good examples”, Mr Burgess said.
The SuperConcepts’ specialist SMSF course is run in conjunction with the University of Adelaide. It has been designed by SMSF experts and is presented by SMSF experts and the course is fully up to date with the latest legislative changes and industry insights. Successful completion of the course carries 34 SMSF Association CPD points and 27 Financial Planning Association CPD points.
All attendees who successfully complete the course receive a certificate of completion from the University of Adelaide certifying that they have satisfied the RG146 SMSF specialist knowledge requirements. Assuming they have also completed an approved Tier 1 course in superannuation, generic knowledge and skills, they have then satisfied ASIC’s best practice guidelines in terms of having the appropriate skills and knowledge to provide SMSF advice.
“We’ve run these courses over the past few months and couldn’t meet the demand so we’ve been asked to add more sessions as advisers and accountants struggle to wade their way through the volume of legislative changes and how they affect their clients,” Mr Burgess said.
The extra courses will be run in Sydney and Melbourne from December 4 to 6. More information and registration details can be found at the SuperConcepts SMSF courses
